Pat Field is the Cool Girl’s Cool Girl

At almost 80, legendary stylist Patricia Field is still cool AF. A fiercely free spirit, with her iconic cherry red hair and glam-rock style, Field has been a fashion fixture on the NYC Downtown scene since the late sixties.

Her Patricia Field boutique was around for thirty years by the time she started dressing SJP on ‘Sex and the City’. She had drag queens working in her store before ‘Drag Race’ was a thing, and brought up some of the biggest designers, musicians and artists. First in the West Village, then the East, and eventually the Bowery, Patricia Field was the go-to shop for decades of creatives, club kids and rock stars. Downtown gave Field her following, and ultimately her fashion identity.

As the costume designer on Sex and the City, Field used Carrie to bring her eccentric styling to the masses. She brought Carrie to life through a curated collection of high-end designer pieces and vintage thrift store finds, one outfit at a time, nailing every single look. Pat Fields created a pre-Instagram version of the street-style-star with Carrie.

Someone we desperately wanted to copy—a fearlessly fashionable city girl who lives for clothes and goes to fashion shows and fabulous parties. Field has since styled for ‘Ugly Betty,’ ‘The Devil Wears Prada,’ and ‘Younger,’ and her costumes are always more about style than fashion design — she consistently creates swoon-worthy wardrobes with her distinct Pat Field-esque vibe. She closed her storefront in 2016, and earlier this year launched 'ARTFASHION' by Patricia Field on the LES, featuring original made-to-order pieces and sold exclusively at www.patriciafield.com.
