Witch Hazel Our Favorite Multi-Use Natural Product

For years we have used witch hazel to simply cleanse the skin as a toner, but recently on National Witch Hazel Day, we learned it can do so much more! Humphrey's Witch Hazel reminded us of how versatile it can be and its totally clean ingredients (we checked on the Yuka app and came up good). It is a natural astringent and antiseptic that has been used for centuries to treat a variety of skin conditions. It is made from the bark and leaves of the witch hazel plant, which contains tannins and other compounds that have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

Here are all the uses we found.

  • Cleansing and toning the skin: to remove dirt, oil, and makeup from the skin, and to help tighten pores.

  • Treating acne: It can help to reduce inflammation, dry out pimples, and kill bacteria that contribute to acne.

  • Soothing irritated skin: It soothes and relieves irritation from sunburn, eczema, and psoriasis.

  • Reducing swelling: This may help to reduce swelling from insect bites, bruises, and other injuries.

  • Healing wounds: It helps to heal wounds by reducing inflammation and killing bacteria.
